Our beautiful cat, Cookie, had to be put to sleep aged 14 years. It was a total shock – Mike and I could see that Cookie was not quite himself and was having a problem eating. We’d guessed it would be his teeth, but the vet found a growth in his throat and rang us to say it would be kinder to let him go whilst still under the anaesthetic. This was only two weeks after my mum died so I was in bits and not coping well at all. I found Jackie on a Google search and knew that we should talk to her. I’m not sure what I was expecting to happen from a reading via Skype, but it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
If I’d had any worries about not being able to communicate with Cookie, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Jackie was talking to him and giving us messages from him straight away. She put us completely at our ease and is such a wonderful, warm person to talk to. Cookie told her a lot about himself and his life with us. He really was one-of-a-kind, describing himself to Jackie as ‘more dog-like’, which is what everyone said about him. He had us laughing at his opinion of the birds in the garden, ‘couldn’t be bothered with them!’ We’d always wondered why he never chased them! To hear that he felt he’d had a good life with us and didn’t suffer at all towards the end made it possible for us to start to get our lives back on track.
We now know without a doubt that Cookie is still around, happy and watching us. We’re peaceful, relaxed and getting on with life again. Jackie, you’re amazing and we are so grateful to you for sharing your wonderful gift with us - we can never thank you enough.
With much love,
Jools and Mike, Cheshire
